Capital Building Tour

Andrew (in the picture) got all of us a tour of the capital building. It was neat but not really spectacular.
View from the front steps of the capital. That is the rest of the mall (you can see the washington monument (the big white obelisk))
This is one of the fake columns in the dome of the of the Capital Building
This is one of the chandelliers inside the capital building.
This is Andrew, from Cal Poly. What he is standing on is the center point of Washington DC. Washington DC is broken into four quadrents (NW, NE, SW, SE) and this is the point at which the center is. Pretty crazy

Photography

It's kind of hard to show you the black and white film stuff that i'm working on but for one of the projects, we had to do a collage. This is my starbucks collage and my metro collage. If you click on the pictures, they will get bigger and you can see them better.

PISMO CLAMS

At the original Smithsonian, they have lots of older forms of money (including really old coins and bills) But one of the oldest monies was these clams from Pismo Beach! If you click the picture, it will get bigger and you can read about it.

Indonesian Embassy

This is the Tiffany (yes, cherie, tiffany) ceiling at the Indonesian embassy. This was originally a house that cost $835,000 to build in 1902 (for an Irish immigrant who struck gold in Colorado). The daughter of the owner bought the hope diamond from Cartier. The house was sold for $335,000 in 1951 to Indonesia. CRAZY!
One of the main Ballrooms.
Barbies in Indonesian Apparel. Barbies are made in Indonesia. This must be worth alot.

The National Aquarium

Today, i went to the national aquarium. It was basically a basement converted to a space with lots of fish tanks. There were a couple of good fish though.
CROC! Did you hear that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile hunter, passed away when he swam over a giant sting ray and it's stinger stabbed him in the heart? Wow.

Our first project was to design something that we will later cast in concrete. We had options of doing different things and i picked a lantern. This is my layout.
